Sometimes you meet an author and they’re just so damn nice and friendly that you just want to hug them through your computer screen. I’ve met some authors who are some real beotches, but LaQuette (just LaQuette) is not one of them. She burst onto the IR scene last fall with her breakaway hit Heart of the Matter, and everybody was seriously asking “Who is this chick, and when is the next book dropping?” Well, behold! It is here (well almost, lol). Check out this delicious teaser, and if you haven’t already, pick up a copy of Heart of the Matter. It’s Book 1 in the Queens of Kings series, and you definitely want to read that one before diving into Divided Heart.
Title: Divided Heart: Queens of Kings Book 2
Publisher: Hot Ink Press
Release Date: February 22, 2015
Heart took a shaky breath when Kenneth was announced the winner. She didn’t know if she should shake him or thank him, he’d both saved her and thrown a monkey wrench in her investigation as well.
She stepped toward the end of the stage and waited as he offered a helping hand to her. She took careful steps down the stairs and felt the burn of the skin of his hand connecting with her palm.
When they reached the center of the dance floor she heard the first straining beats of Trey Songz “Na Na.” By the time Trey asked if they were fucking tonight, she and Kenneth were grinding against each other with determined movements.
God, the slide of his body was making her clit throb with a nasty ache. She needed this fucking assignment to be over so she could slide down the beautiful cock that was currently pressed up against her resting perfectly in the fissure of her rounded ass.
He placed one strong hand flat against her abdomen while the fingertips of the other skated down the length of her arm until she felt blunt fingertips caress hers, locking their fingers together in a beautiful latticework of brown and cream digits.
He pressed his mouth to her ear and the warmth of his breath seeped through her skin and into her blood, igniting a chaotic boil inside her. He nipped at her ear and whispered one word that made her forget about all of the people watching them, the operation, and anything else that didn’t directly relate to the fire he was stoking between them.
“Mine,” was all he said and her mind blanked out, and all she knew was him: her man, her husband, her anchor.
This moment wasn’t about the case, it was about the way the two of them connected, had always connected, on a primal and visceral level. She fell into step with him and let him lead her around that dance floor. His moves were powerful and made her ache to be beneath him in their bed, or up against a wall. Either would do at this moment, she just needed this man.
He turned her to face him; she plastered herself against him, his thigh between hers, her riding it trying to get more friction. Just a little more pressure and she could probably fall over the edge into bliss. Just a little more…
She felt herself fall back. Kenneth anchored her by keeping a secure grip on her neck. She leaned into it and let her body shake, dip, and roll against the solid strength of his body. God she was there, just a few more movements of her hips and she could find completion. She was a horny, craven bitch tonight, and she didn’t have one stitch of shame about it.
She felt him pull her back to him, burying his face in her neck, and kissing his way back up to her ear.
“I could fuck you right here. And I bet you would let me,” he surmised. “I can tell how close you are right now.” He held her tighter, changing the angle against her clit, removing some of the pressure. “No, not here,” he said and her body trembled with want. “I will not let the people in this fucking room witness the beautiful sight of you coming for me. That shit is mine and mine alone. You’re going to finish this fucking thing you’ve got going on tonight, then you’re going to bring your ass home and let me bury myself so deep in this fucking pussy you’ll be walking gingerly for the next week.”
He bit down on the sensitive flesh that covered her shoulder forcing another involuntary shudder to charge through her body.
“Do you understand me?”
The music stopped then. With glaring silence filling the room, she was able to find the will to shake her head free of some of the fog Kenneth had poured over her mind. He held tight to the back of her neck forcing her to stand in the full onslaught of his powerful gaze. She realized then that his question hadn’t been rhetorical, he expected an actual answer.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek and whispered one word in his ear.
He ran his hand across the expanse of one of her ass cheeks and gripped it firmly, making certain his stamp of ownership would remain there long after this dance was finished. He nodded his acceptance of her answer. He looked over her shoulder and nodded, and then he stepped out of her embrace.
He plastered that cocky ass grin he’d been wearing when she’d first met him. The one that said, “I’m certain I’ll be fucking you soon,” then turned and walked out with Alan in tow. If she didn’t love him so damn much, she was sure she could hate that man.
She stiffened as the haze he’d created cleared her mind and she came to a startling realization. Dammit, the fucking mic was on to my earwig the whole fucking time. Shit, I’m fucked in so many ways.
